Supply List for Figure Classes and WorkshopsPaintsPlease bring the watercolor paints you are accustomed to using. At a minimum you will need a yellow, a red, a blue, and a way to get a dark. If you are unsure of what to bring, I suggest the following minimum set of paints.
I recommend artists' grade paint in tubes. My favorite brands are Winsor and Newton, Daniel Smith, and M. Graham. There are many other high quality brands. Brushes
Other brushes are optional if you already have them. A size 6 round can occasionally be useful for touches of detail. A 1 1/2" or 2" synthetic flat can be useful for covering large background areas quickly. Sable brushes are the best watercolor brushes, especially for figurative work, but they are outrageously expensive. Sable/synthetic blends, such as the Winsor and Newton Sceptre Gold brushes, are a good compromise, cheaper than a pure sable but still pricey in larger sizes. Synthetics, such as white sables or golden taklons, are the least expensive and work reasonably well. Choose what fits your budget. PaperBring quarter sheets (11x15) and half sheets (15x22) of 140 lb, artists grade watercolor paper. Cold pressed paper is a good, all-purpose choice. Other finishes - rough, soft-pressed, or hot-pressed - are also acceptable. Other materials
